The Canon 5DX / 5D mark IV is coming (rumours)

Is it a Canon 5D mark IV or is it going to be a Canon 5DX?

The Internet has been buzzing with rumours over the last few days about the replacement for the much loved Canon EOS 5D mark III. Announced in March 2012, the 5D mark III has been a huge success for Canon, and even today, almost 4 years later it is still a great DSLR. As with everything though, everyone is waiting for the next big thing and according to the rumour-mill we won’t have to wait much longer.

Due to drop at the NAB show in April, the new camera will not be called the Canon 5D mark IV but the Canon 5DX. This new name brings with it some awesome specs such as 4K video, Canon log and a wide DR gamut which I’m sure Canon hope will regain their crown from Sony as top of the pops when it comes to film making. We should also see Dualpixel CMOS AF as found on the 1DX mark II, a CFast card slot alongside a SD card slot to handle the 4K video and we expect to see an all new AF system, on a par with the 1DX mark II.

The Canon 5DX is reportedly out in the wild, being tested by a select few photographers. We should see an announcement from Canon very soon.

Remember though, these are just rumours!
