Is a Vortex monocular better than binoculars?

A monocular is ideal as a quick spotter when you are out and about.

For prolonged viewing, binoculars are easier to hold steady using both hands and also more relaxing to look through.

If you're heading out for the day and hovering 50:50 whether or not to take your binoculars, a monocular provides the obvious answer.

What does 8x25 mean on a monocular?

The first number is the magnification and the second is the diameter of the front glass, or objective lens, in millimetres. The first number divided into the second gives the light gathering power.

Which is the best Vortex Monocular?

The 10x25 is slimmer and more powerful than the 8x36 but with less light gathering and a narrower field of view.

So, better for identifying a distant object, not as good for scanning the trees to find out what's going tweet tweet, or chirp chirp, or drrrrrrrrr.

The choice is yours.
