At the heart of the X100VI you will find the 40mp X-Trans 5 sensor, shared with its stablemates the X-T5 and X-H2, along with the powerful X-Trans 5 processor. As such it inherits the updated AF algorithm from the X-T5 and X-H2 bringing subject detection to the X100VI.
The AF system also now includes touch and track AF with fast and accurate tracking of subjects in both stills and video. Standard ISO is 125, max shutter speed is 1/180,000 sec (elec.). Video specs also carry over from its siblings with video at 6.2K/30p 4:2:2 10-bit internal, although we're not sure that many people will be buying this for its video credentials, it’s not really that sort of camera!
The new internal additions also include Image Stabilisation, with a newly developed system offering 6.0 stops of stabilisation to your shots. There is a new film simulation, REALA ACE bringing the selection of filmic looks you can apply to your jpegs up to 20 different styles. The camera also is now fully Frame.io camera to cloud compatible.
Although the heart may have undergone some changes, the soul of the X100 is still very much alive in the X100VI with its unique 3.69 million dot EVF/OVF/Electronic Rangefinder viewfinder that so many people love. The lens remains the same Fujinon 23mm f2.0 fixed focal length lens that can absolutely resolve the new 40mp sensor.
The very useful built-in 4 stop ND filter is also still present, as is the 1.62 million dot rear LCD screen, which tilts to 45 degrees, rather than the 30 of the X100V. The battery is the same NP-W126S which will power the X100VI through 450 shots on a single charge. There is still a single slot for a UHS-I SD memory card and as with previous versions to gain full weather sealing you are required to add the filter ring adapter and protective filter.
On that note, all accessories that were compatible with the X100V (hood, filter ring, WCL/TCL lenses) are still compatible, including the leather case, despite the X100VI body having 2mm more depth to accommodate the IBIS system.
