“Better not bigger” – Bournemouth Air Festival 2010
The Vulcan HX588 may well be taking to the skies over Bournemouth once more this summer. Yay!
Bournemouth Air Festival is so successful it can’t get any bigger, Air Festival director Jon Weaver told the Bournemouth Echo yesterday.
Instead, the 2010 event promises to be better than ever – and we can’t wait. The sun is shining in Bournemouth today and that’s got our minds turning to summer (although it’s still a little chilly to go dipping our toes in the sea just yet!)
Attendance figures for the 2009 event reveal that 1.3million people were brought to Bournemouth to attend the spectacular, and last year we joined a group of Castle Cameras’ customers for the day photographing the event. You can see some of their photographs on the official Air Show page.
There was further brilliant news yesterday – the Vulcan has been saved and will (hopefully!) be returning to this event! An anonymous donation of £900,000 ensured the future of the marvelous aircraft – if you’ve never experienced it before we guarantee you’ll never have seen or heard anything quite like it.
In less positive news, Wilts & Dorset buses have today announced that they will no longer be sponsoring the Air Show, blaming a drop in revenue and free travel for pensioners for its decision.
However, event organisers have promised a spectacular show no matter what happens. The hunt is now on for a new sponsor.
