DSLR Cameras
Castle Cameras have promoted the latest Single Lens Reflex cameras with the most advanced specifications and highest levels of automation since we set out in 1974 with the Konica Autoreflex A and then the classic Canon A-1 and AE-1, the Pentax ME Super and Olympus OM-1. They all featured automatic exposure control in place of the more conventional match-needle, or hand-held, exposure metering of the time.
We stock almost every Digital SLR camera from the Canon DSLR and Nikon DSLR ranges and work closely with the suppliers, and watch our competitors closely, to ensure that we have good stocks of all models at prices which allow you to buy with confidence. Our prices and deals in-store, either Bournemouth or Salisbury, are exactly what you see here. Occasionally, it may take us a day or two to catch up with the latest pricing, so feel free to challenge us if you think that might be the case.
There is a DSLR camera for everyone.
If you're just starting on your photographic journey, then entry level DSLRs such as the EOS 2000D offer great value for money, bursting with features that ensure you get the best shot every time.
As you continue your photographic journey and look to trade up, the latest top-end models offer unprecedented picture quality and versatility. The Nikon D7500 and Canon 90D are all packed full of the latest and greatest in sensor technology, speed and HD video.
If cost is an issue, then don't forget that we offer a part exchange service to ease the finances and keep the bank manager (indoors or out) off your back. We also regularly offer selected models with interest-free credit at no extra charge.
Castle Cameras are a Professional Centre for both Canon EOS and Nikon, with a commitment to stocking and demonstrating the models at the top of their ranges.
Buying your Digital SLR camera is just the start of the journey. None of them come with a memory card, leaving you free to choose a small one to get you going or a larger one that will hold a thousand shots or more. A case and filter will help to protect your new Digital SLR and keep it in pristine condition.
Spare batteries, and a vertical grip to both hold an extra battery and improve the handling of the camera may come in handy. A remote control, an extra flashgun or two, a few lenses...... Recommended products on any product page will give you a good idea of what may be suitable.
Most of our customers buying their first, or fifth, DSLR camera prefer to come in, talk it through, more often than not negotiate a deal on their old kit and get their hands on the shiny new one before parting with their hard-earned dosh. If this is impractical for you, or you have a query which you want to check before you come in, we are just a phone call (or a live chat) away. If at any point throughout your order you need some extra help, please phone either Bournemouth on 01202 526606 or Salisbury on 01722 339909 between 9am and 5pm.
With the advent of digital photography and electronic screens and viewfinders, the traditional SLR design with optical viewfinder is slowly giving best to fully-electronic mirrorless system cameras. The DSLR has its place where observing the subject is an important part of waiting for the right moment and still remains supreme in conditions where battery life is an issue as it’s optical viewfinder does not draw any power. If you have been sat in a cold hide watching a polar bear all day, you really don’t want to be changing the camera battery just as it decides to turn and give you it’s best smile.
