Environmental Portraiture Workshop with Canon and Brian Worley

Environmental Portraiture Workshop with Canon and Brian Worley

This week saw our Environmental Portraiture Workshop with Canon and Brian Worley in our Salisbury store and out on location around the city centre.

Brian began the workshop with a great presentation, detailing how he gets the best out of Canon’s cameras, lenses and flashes when doing portraiture. After much furious scribbling on notes from our customers attending the course, Brian introduced our model for the evening, Sarah Gold.

Brian started indoors in our Salisbury studio with a simple setup consisting of a Lastolite collapsible background and on key-light made up of a Lastolite softbox powered by dual Canon speedlights.

Canon supplied an amazing range of cameras and lenses for our customers to try including the EOS R5, R6, RF 85mm f1.2L and we even had a non-shooting sample of the new EOS R6 mark II to look at.

Our customers got some great photos of Sarah, even doing her best effort to advertise Sainsbury’s mince pies ;)

Mark from Canon was on hand to print any images our customers felt they’d like to see in print. Mark was using the Canon PRO-300 printer which produces stunning, pro-quality prints.

Once everyone was nicely warmed up, we decided to make them cold again by taking them outdoors in to the city centre, in amongst the Christmas lights and decorations adorning the market square and cathedral.

Once everyone was just about frozen, the lovely Michelle from Canon supplied everyone with hot chocolates and yule log treats back at the studio. Once again Mark printed images on the PRO-300 for our customers to take away with them.

The workshop was a great success with everyone making some wonderful images and learning a few tips, tricks and skills to enhance their portrait photography along the way.

A big thank you to Canon, Brian Worley and Sarah Gold.

Look out for more workshops coming in 2023!
