"Have been out a couple of times with opportunity to use the RF100-400 and have been pleased with the results obtained when used with my Canon R7. Got some nice contre-jour shots of squirrels in our garden - where the lens coped well shooting in to quite strong sunlight and really made their tails stand out. Also used it at a local nature reserve to get some pics of finches on a bird feeder where they captured decent feather detail. Using spot point focus definitely helped with the auto focus . I feel the lens represents good value for money. It isn't too heavy either if you want something that is easily portable."

"As with the R7 I am extremely pleased to have solved a particular problem with the weight of previous equipment. The EOS 7D was a superb piece of kit combined with the 70 - 300 mm lens but arthritic shoulders made using it difficult. I was anxious not to lose too much performance and capability and this R7 combined with the 100 - 400 lens looks to be ban excellent and practical alternative. Staff at Castle Cameras in Salisbury have been extremely helpful in the change process and I'm grateful for their help."

"In preparation for an upcoming safari this was purchased as an alternative to a very heavy Sigma 150 - 600mm. Based on a few test runs so far I have to say I'm not disappointed. A third of the weight means hand holding isn't a problem and image stabilisation allows quality shots even in low light. The excellent finance deal and very prompt delivery by Castle Cameras have convinced me I've made the right choice, with the right people."

"The Canon RF 100-400mm is a lightweight and compact lens that focuses quickly and quietly, has good image stabilisation and excellent image quality. This lens is shorter and lighter than my old EF 70-200mm but seems to focus just as well and obviously has twice the “reach”. I took the 100-400mm to the zoo and was very happy with the handling, performance and image quality. The slow maximum aperture was not an issue for me and coming from APS-C I found the background separation was still good. And the R-series cameras have no problems auto-focussing at f8. A great and (relatively) affordable addition to the RF lens lineup. Pair with a 24-105mm f4-7.1 and you have a very versatile setup that weighs less than 2kg (inc. body). "
