John will provide a very useful and fascinating oversight to the genres of Close-Up and Macro Photography. Not just a clarity to the various items of equipment, their pro’s and cons, but also real world hints and tips on creating those eye-catching shots. With pre shot and live aspects, this easy to follow but inspiring talk is full of useful information.

As a people photographer, John has always been respectful of and inspired by the styles and techniques photographers have used over the decades. It can be the most useful resource to create your own contemporary images from. A starting point of knowledge, giving confidence and excitement that you can achieve something.

So he will take us on a journey through various decades of styles, while adding useful ‘people’ photography, camera and lighting tips for get the best out of photography today.  This event will include live shooting as John draws upon his own experiences and the countless others who have created decades of style. 

John will be located in the corner of the hall, between the stage and OM SYSTEM stand.

About JC.

Johns work has seen him shoot across genres throughout his career. Taking him around the UK and further afield countless times. Innumerable studio’s, company premises, ambassador’s residences, historic venues, freezing cold beaches and peoples homes to name some  locations he has captured images at.

Mostly a people photographer portraits, weddings, business images. clothing, lifestyle, fashion and commercial photography and of course, the Great British public have all been captured. Proud that his images have been published around the world, in print and electronic forms, as well as hanging in peoples homes and business premises.

With a respected technical background alongside, for a number of years he was the ‘UK Advisor Of Photography’ for Nikon Corporation. An amazing role. You live, breathe and sleep photography in all its forms. Employing its skills and tools in the right way to help people maximise their photography. From the conventional to specialist requirements; scientists, police force, dentists and those working with priceless artefacts in museums to name a few specialist applications. As a result, a detailed knowledge of genres such as close-up, macro and micro photography grew, and John has gone on to speak and write about the subject throughout the years.

Through film to digital photography John has also been an ‘ambassador’ for some of the biggest brands in camera and lighting manufacture through the decades. But many may know him as a technical author. He wrote over a dozen books on photography and contributed widely through magazine articles as a freelance technical editor/consultant in the photo press in years past. 

As a tutor, workshop and event leader for nearly four decades, he has presented many events and taught photography on behalf of some big names across genres. With his approachable style, we are sure you will enjoy his talks.
