The Swarovski name is best known for its glass crystal jewellery and ornaments. They can be seen around the globe on anything from the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in New York to classic movies like Breakfast at Tiffanys and Men prefer Blondes as well as the more recent Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocketman.
It akk kicked off in the 1890s when Daniel Swarovski invented a machine for precision cutting crystal glass and founded the Swarovski dynasty producing high quality jewellery at an affordable price. A factory was built on an Austrian mountainside to take advantage of the clean air and cheap hydro-electric power. His son, Wilhelm enjoyed hunting in the mountains and exploited the family expertise in glass cutting and polishing to produce a pair of binoculars that were superior to the best that he could buy at the time.
Shortly after, SWAROVSKI OPTIK was born and has been busy inventing, designing, improving and manufacturing their binoculars and spotting scopes ever since. Appropriately for a factory based high up in the Austrian Tyrol, they now stand at the pinnacle of optical excellence.
